What to expect in a session

A Reiki session for burnout is not about pushing you to process everything at once. It is about helping your system downshift.

 

Most clients notice some combination of:

​

  • a deeper exhale, shoulders dropping, body softening

  • calm or stillness in the mind, even if it is brief

  • warmth, heaviness, tingling, or gentle waves through the body

  • emotional release, sometimes subtle, sometimes obvious

  • feeling more grounded afterwards, less reactive, less “on edge”.

 

Some people feel a lot in-session. Others feel very little but notice changes later: improved sleep, less tension, more patience, slightly better energy, or less emotional volatility.

If you arrive depleted, your body may simply rest. That is not nothing, that is the work.

My approach

My approach is grounded and practical. I practise a Tibetan Reiki lineage that is calm, respectful, and steady, not theatrical.

​

Sessions are hands-free the majority of the time, with optional very gentle contact on the head or feet for grounding if you are comfortable with that.

​

If you are burnt out, I am not here to hype you up or “fix you” in one session. The aim is to help your system stabilise and rebuild capacity, gradually, realistically, and in a way that fits your life.

I keep this realistic. Reiki supports your nervous system, but burnout usually needs a few practical changes too.

 

These are the basics that often make the Reiki “stick”:

  • improving sleep routine where possible

  • reducing extra commitments, even temporarily

  • walking, gentle movement, or time outside

  • consistent meals and hydration

  • some form of support, counselling, GP review, or check-in if needed.

 

Reiki can help you feel calm enough to make better choices again, instead of running on fumes.

What Reiki is, and what it is not

Reiki is supportive care. It can complement counselling, psychology, medication, and medical treatment, but it does not replace professional healthcare.

​

How many sessions do I need for burnout?
Most people know after 1 to 3 sessions whether Reiki helps. Burnout recovery is often gradual, so some people book weekly or fortnightly for a period, then taper off as they stabilise.

Do I have to talk the whole time?
No. You can share as much or as little as you want. Many burnt-out people do not have the energy to explain everything, and that is fine.

​

Can you guarantee results?
No. What I can offer is a consistent, respectful approach and a space that helps your system settle and reset.

​

Will I feel worse afterwards?
Occasionally, people feel tired or emotionally tender after a session, especially if they have been running on adrenaline for a long time. Most people feel calmer, sleep better, or feel more grounded.
